Re: Alternative Luck tests
But it does make sense some things are just down to luck, and it's up to the GM to decide when those are. That's certainly true; but I think using Luck+Adv. Skill occassionally could be an occasional middle way. RAW, there are a lot of uses of Luck that could be tied to Skill, depending on how you ...

Re: Alternative Luck tests
What I'll add is it makes no sense to try to include either Special Skills or difficulty modifiers to LUCK tests. The entire point of LUCK tests is they're where it's purely down to chance and how lucky the character is. For any situation where the character's experience and skills would make a dif...

Re: Maelstrom Rome released
There is. In Domesday, everyone has a very similar background, eating the same food etc. Therefore, people are more similar. In Rome, you had wild barbarians, very cultured romans, egyptians etc, but you also had big disparities in wealth, diet and living conditions. I wanted to make the stats just...

Re: Alternative Luck tests
The alternative unopposed test rules given in the main book suggest that Luck tests remain the same, and I understand why as Luck doesn’t really have any related special skills, so trying to reach a target number of 15 alters the chances of success, but I started to think if you wanted to streamlin...

Re: Maelstrom Rome released
Quick question: I'm reading Rome and Domesday side to side at the moment - enjoying both very much! -, and I wondered why the initial modification of the Attributes works differently, with Rome only allowing you to choose five attributes that diverge, but no control over which ones will be higher a...

And a Background I wrote for Troika!:

Backgrounds in Troika! are very much what a race-class is in D&D games - they give you everything apart from your core stats.

Re: Maelstrom Domesday: 100+ Years Campaign
Wow, sounds very exciting! I will probably never be able to play through a campaign of 100+ sessions (I'm hard-pressed to manage a gaming session every other month, so we'd probably be either on Mars or in Mad-Max-Land by the time I get to finish it ...), I definitely want to get this.

Re: Does anyone use AFF for other settings?
I'm really interested in using AFF2e for a horror/Lovecraftian kind of setting. Perhaps there are mechanics like FEAR ( House of Hell ) which can be modified as a SANITY stat (roll = or < to keep Sanity); very scary events or encounters whittle away at the stat. It'd also be really interesting as i...

Yes, it tends to be even further on the weird side. If you don't like the cover, you probably won't like the interior art. I only just now noticed that I neglected to write anything about the art in the book ...

Does anyone use AFF for other settings?
Just out of curiosity: Is anyone using AFF with other settings than Titan, either homebrew or other rpg or media worlds?
