Re: Rules questions
...in the main rules, it states that all rogues are able to escape capture and avoid pursuit in urban surroundings, and later in the book suggests possible rolls to make to do so. What it doesn't mention is how these rolls would differ from a character with any other living attempting an escape and...

While a Referee can benefit from having the crunch to penalise players for selecting big weapons and heavy armour for their characters, roleplaying has to provide the other angle. Whatever form the local law enforcement might take - whether Beadle, Justice of the Peace or the mob employed by a local...

Re: Starting Attributes
One of the main problems that we identified was that the attributes start too low for most characters to do even the things they're supposed to be good at very well... I'm planning on trying again, but I'm going to give players 100 points to spend, with a max of 30 points into an Attribute... Once ...

Looks like the sort of set you could use to do an adventure with a Legion-like spin on it, except using the forces of the apocalypse instead of simply a heavenly host. Or perhaps a street-level battle akin to 'Dogma', with normal player characters faced with completing a task faced with battling met...

Maelstrom Adventure Seeds
While trying to write an adventure or two, I'm running across little ideas that amount to nothing more than an encounter. So, you can expect to find a seed or three emerging over time - and I'll post links here when they do. Beggars Can't Be Choosers Has anyone else come across potential seeds for M...

Future of Maelstrom
So, what exactly does the future hold for Maelstrom?
Do you have the option to complete a reworking of the original rules with streamlining - or does the extent of your future work only cover additional supplements?

I'm not sure you necessarily need more powerful herbs - Serapias Turbith and All-Heale already fill that role in the game. Perhaps a Herbalist could coax a greater effect from herbs if he rolls one-tenth of the effectiveness (a 01 - 08 on the All-Heale, for example). Additionally, having Doctors who...

Nice article and it would indeed be interesting to go through that box in the loft. I ran play-by-mail games twenty years ago with increasingly complex rule sets - and I know of few activities more entertaining and insightful than flicking through the wads of paper and picking out scraps to use in m...
