Like the talents. Adept might be a bit strong as the rules only allow an additional magical style to be taken once you have 6 points in the original one. You could be a wizard or sorcerer with the Templar ability. Maybe there can be a talent that lets you cast one wizard or sorcerer spell once a day.

So, here is a question I have about raising corpses. Surely, a necromancer doesn't have a choice whether the corpse is a skeleton or a zombie when they raise it? One issue I can see is that, in a gamebook, the paths and choices are more tightly restricted than in a ttRPG, so the 'junk' you find at the start of the adventure will almost certainly be useful (or a nasty trap) later in the adventure. I think the idea of collecting junk that happens to be super useful later on is a common trope in a lot of Fighting Fantasy books (especially ones by Ian Livingstone) and I like the idea of having characters who start off with almost nothing - either as peasants, beggars, heroes who have been robbed...

The only tweak I would consider right now would be the Sorcery Magic. The Sorcery series didn't exactly give players every spell in the book. Players had to memorize spell codes then use them at the right time but they were confronted with a list of other spell codes, some real some not, to confuse...

Adjust the Natural Mage Talent I agree that it misses out on all the tension/danger/fun if you can never get a critical fail when you cast spells that cost 1. How would you change it? lowering base skill to 4 and then maxing a special skill to 2 means you need to roll a 6 or less to be successful. meaning you lose the "start competent and improve from there" which i love about AFF. back to D&D style "rubbish when you start" level grinding and fighting giant rats to make some XP ...

It would be good to sort out claw sizes and which creatures have which claw sizes- the demon book has 4 different claw sizes and the old book had different sizes to this one.
