Re: Some talents better than others?

That's probably a useful idea. I think there's no doubt that some talents - and skills - are more useful than others, and players looking to max their scores will probably end up picking those. I think that's a mistake in many ways, as really they are there to flesh out the hero and should be picked...

Re: proportion of thepopulation by skill

Surely the only feasible interpretation is that monster SKILL values include relevant combat special skills for whatever mode of attack they use. That's certainly how they are used in practice. I suppose if you needed a monster's base skill for some reason I'd assume a value in the same range as tha...

Re: proportion of thepopulation by skill

I'd largely go along with these numbers - pretty much in agreement with my thoughts previously in this thread: http://arion-games.com/bb/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=397&p=2137#p2137. If anything I'd make the high SKILL value even more rare. Something like: Skill 4 or less: about 20% Skill 5: 60% Skill 6: 1...

Lifepath chargen

Reading Graham's thread on Maelstrom character generation: http://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?727640-Wherein-i-create-a-Maelstrom-Domesday-character , I can't help wondering what a similar lifepath system would look like for AFF characters. Simpler in some respects, since the system is simpler I th...

Re: More than one skill used as bonus for a check?

I don't see why not, if two skills could contribute knowledge. An alternative, if either skill is sufficient, would just be to take the maximum of the two skills.

Possibly both may be necessary, rather than sufficient, in which case you might take the minimum of the two skills.

Re: Adventures - lots of detail or bare minimum?

I think in my ideal adventure there would be detail on the background and motivations of the NPCs (protagonists and antagonists), a map and layouts of the principal locations, and and some discussion about what the heroes have to do and contingencies which may arise depending on their actions. A dec...

Re: Warlock of Firetop Mountain Adventure

I hear what you're saying but I think it's a false dichotomy. The aim should be to maintain consistency with the canon while also expanding and fleshing-out the setting. Blacksand did that (though could have gone even further); I think the Crown of Kings was less successful because it hewed too stri...

Re: Warlock of Firetop Mountain Adventure

Great news - congrats. Have to confess though, I'm somewhat unsure as to how to use this, since surely many or even most players will have been through WoFM once or twice before and will know the secrets - e.g. where to find the keys & how to defeat the Warlock. Are there any suggestions for how to ...

Re: Gundobad location finally revealed

I think we have to think of these maps (i.e. all the ones published so far, with the possible exception of Steve's recent ones) as 'in-world' maps, reflecting the limitations of cartographic knowledge in Titan. On the one hand an accurate map would be helpful, but on the other hand, I've kind of got...
