Défis fantastiques
Défis fantastiques
Hello there,
Did anyone have look at the french translation of advanced fighting fantasy?
https://scriptarium.fr/boutique/6-df-le-jeu-de-role
And also the scenarios from this website?
https://www.scenariotheque.org/Document ... id_jeu=388
Do you know if anyone translated any of these?
Being a french native I was thinking of doing some of the translation myself but I was wondering if anyone had a go already.
Julien

I think that the French version is licensed from Graham so he’s probably the best one to help you with that.
For the scenarios, not that I know of. There are some really nice ones there but I don’t think there is much cross pollination between the different groups. Happy to be corrected if others know more!

Their last adventure book: maudit trésor looks amazing!

Yeah the Défis Fantastiques books look really nicely presented. I'm pretty sure no one would have translated the scenarios from Scenariotheque, that'd be great to see happen.

Looking at the scriptarium website, they have game cards. Spells, Items, general stuff. As cards.
Would be super nice in English!
Google Translate thankfully translates the descriptions from the scriptarium website in the French, but the contents of documents will be painful to work through for us monolingual suckers.
Avis a Famille can be translated (3000 characters at a time) using the PDF from the scenariotheque website as your basic one page "go an tell a guy his brother's dead" in a tower filled with monsters.
This is brilliant.

Just learned about this feature with Google Translate. Turns out you can upload documents to it and it will, with a margin of error, translate them from the source language to English, or any other language.
Tried it with some of the PDFs off the scenariotheque website. Works a charm, except you then have to save the translation as a html file if you want to keep it (And then copy it as a word document and compress it into a zipfile to share it).
Here's one
Original French: https://www.scenariotheque.org/Fichiers ... _Idion.pdf
Google Translate Translation: Idion's Curse
I might just be spending a few bucks on this french version of AFF...
The art's pretty and it might add a few extra touches to my solo-playing.
Again, this is brilliant.

Scriptarium has recently released a pdf of the core rule book. It is beautiful. They are currently rewriting Titan and Out of the Pit (Titan and Creatures de Titan) and will release some PDFs for these books later this year. The maps which are included in the Titan book are beautiful. I am waiting for the Titan and Creatures book to be rereleased so I can also get the PDFs for these.
The adventure book “Maudit Trésor” is also available in PDFs. Might make it easier to translate. If you want me to check any translation, let me know.

Also the adventure included in the core rule book: “Le tambour de Gondrim” includes bits from Forest of Doom and Citadel of Chaos.

Where can one purchase the PDFs? I'd like to get the main rulebook and Titan in PDF, but can't find the links.Julien wrote: ↑Mon Jul 06, 2020 10:07 amScriptarium has recently released a pdf of the core rule book. It is beautiful. Here’s the link for everything. You can get the main rule book in PDF at least.

I bought the rule book and it’s nicely done, there’s also an adventure included.

I saw that page, but I was puzzled as to why there was no PDF for Titan that I could discern.HedgeWizard wrote: ↑Tue Oct 13, 2020 3:00 pmHere’s the link for everything. You can get the main rule book in PDF at least.

EDIT: Just got a note from the publisher who said that the PDF for Titan should be out before the holidays.

How about running some of that adventures? This way you translate the adventures while having more fun...Julien wrote: ↑Thu Jul 02, 2020 7:27 pmthe scenarios from this website?

I ran https://www.onlinedoctranslator.com/en/ on the PDFs and they came out okay. Not perfect but good enough to use. Someone with a PDF editor could clean them up further from there.

Re: Défis fantastiques
Well, X-mas is almost upon us and the DF site hasn't made much available in PDF, and hardcopies of some books appear to be out-of-stock. I'm afraid that, if I contact them again, I will only get a curt and unhelpful response. It's a shame that their products aren't all available in PDF otherwise I'd snatch up all of them and use the texts to improve my French.LordArioch wrote: ↑Tue Oct 13, 2020 5:57 pmI saw that page, but I was puzzled as to why there was no PDF for Titan that I could discern.HedgeWizard wrote: ↑Tue Oct 13, 2020 3:00 pmHere’s the link for everything. Re: Défis fantastiques
I think they are still working on a new edition of Titan and Creatures de Titan but they are having some issues with their deadlines so it won’t be ready for Christmas. My understanding is that the new edition of these books will also include a pdf.
