Strange feeling

Post by bottg » Mon Jan 27, 2014 11:05 pm

Chatting with some of my group tonight, and it seems one of them is going to start running some of our weekly games (one a month or so) via Fantasy Grounds. And they are going to run AFF.

Which i have not yet been able to play! Normally at this stage i would sit down with the rulebooks and plan a character etc. But it will seem very strange to sit down with the core book and heroes companion to consider options...

Quite excited as i rarely get to actually play, and to play AFF will be fantastic

Welcome to our world! For us, sitting down with these books and dream is our bread and butter!

Last night i was reading through the corebook, and now have about 20 different character concepts i could create. Oh the choice!

Hi Graham How did your first adventure as a Templar of glantanka go ?hope you enjoyed it. I would imagine there was a great amount of satisfaction after all the work you've done with AFF2 :D

Well, i had to have a slight change of Talent due to the rest of the party (a bow-specialised rogue, a wizard and a sorcerer) and so i took Armour training instead.

As this is a first-time GM and two of the players are new to AFF, we had a warm up fight with some thugs, and trounced them, even though the wizard turned his hair blue attempting to cast sleep.

On our way to the dungeon to rescue the family of a merchant from some goblins, we got ambushed by boars, although they were not a major challenge. The following night our camp was attacked by a treeman. We all focused our attacks on the trunk, including the sorcerer critically succeeding with a ZAP, although of course this had no effect! Turning our attentions to the arms, i managed to throw away my weapon twice, once on the same round as the treeman critically hit me! Rather annoyingly, on three occassions i chose the all out attack option to increase damage, and on each one i either drew with the treeman or lost the round by 1!

The rest of the journey was eventless, and we managed one more fight with a goblin and some wolves, none of which were a major threat.

It was a huge amount of fun, and i am really looking forward to thursday when we carry on. I did have to assist the new GM a little, which i will have to do less of in future, and it is still slightly strange to actually be a player!
