Helpful books and audiobooks for Maelstrom

I'm trying to listen to all the audiobooks that I've downloaded but never got around to. I have a few history books that I downloaded to help with RPG and gamebook stuff. Here are some that I think will be interesting.

I'm listening to an audible book called The Other Side of History. It covers daily life in several civilizations including Rome and Medieval times. It might provide some inspiration for Maelstrom.

Another one I am listening to is The Story of Medieval England: From King Arthur to the Tudor Conquest.

This one spends a few chapters on the Norman conquest and the time after it.

Warriors, Queens, and Intellectuals: 36 Great Women Before 1400. Lots of Roman era and Medieval stories here. I liked the one about the emperor who had a rooster called Rome and when he was told that Rome has fallen, he thought that his rooster had died.

The Celtic World is a great series of lectures about Ireland, Wales, Scotland, Cornwall, the Isle of Man and a few other places in Roman and Medieval times.

Some other literary inspirations were the Crowner John novels (a century or so late, but still very good) and the Cadfael books. There are quite a few in each line, and will provide plenty of medieval inspiration.
