RPG Writing Workshop

This two-day residential workshop takes you through the process of designing and writing tabletop RPG’s. It looks at mechanics, various RPG styles, options, publishing and much more. Held at Arion Games HQ in the rural Yorkshire Dales National Park, you can combine great scenery, fantastic food and great gaming!

The Workshop is held in a converted Victorian Dairy/Wash house with a great ambience provided by stonework, exposed beams, an open fire and other period features. The Games Room is brought up to date with the addition of WiFi, a projector and other necessary technology.

The Workshop draws on more than fifteen years experince of publishing RPG’s such as Advanced Fighting Fantasy and Maelstrom Domesday, as well as twenty years of teaching and training in various fields. We limit the course to FIVE trainees per course, to ensure an optimal experience, and provide a specially designed notebook, writing materials, dice and so on.

The schedule for the Workshop is as follows:

Saturday Morning: Types of RPG’s / First Principles / Game Focus / Basic Mechanics

Saturday Afternoon: Combat

Saturday Evening: An RPG session run by Graham Bottley – various options available

Sunday Morning: Magic & Special Abilities / Enemies & Monsters

Sunday Afternoon: Other Rules / Playtesting / Editing / Funding / Layout / Publication

The Workshop runs for a whole weekend, and includes accomodation on the saturday night at a quality local B&B, all meals, snacks and drinks. Special diets and requiremnents can usually be catered for, and if you wanted to extend your stay in the fantastic Yorkshire Dales, special rates can often be arranged for further accomodation.

The Workshop costs £250 per person, and includes Saturday night accomodation and all meals over the weekend.
